Obsessing over what you eat and how you look is exhausting.
It doesn't have to be this way.
We repeatedly hear that emotional eating is a poor way to cope with how we feel, and that it should be avoided at all costs. That controlling our intake is the best way to move past rules around food. That being 'mindful' of calories, exercise, and macronutrients are healthy, desirable habits to have.
These are, in fact, solid ways to continue with a stressful and disordered pattern of eating, leaving you feeling stuck in a cycle of dieting, restriction and guilt - as well as disengaged from yourself and what truly matters to you.
Emotional eating may have been one way, perhaps the only way, that you offered yourself some protection and self-soothing. Controlling and restricting what you eat actually leaves you feeling unsafe around food. Tracking calories and macronutrients turn into obsessions, further perpetuating your anxiety around what you eat.
Your relationship with food - and yourself - doesn't have to be this way. You can experience flexibility and freedom around eating, and trust in choices you make that feel good for you. Along the way, you can culture self-compassion and show the kindness towards yourself that you so greatly deserve. You can have a meaningful relationship with food.
It can be hard to know what you need sometimes. Book an individual consultation to explore what you are currently feeling, your biggest challenges at the moment, what you'd like to gain and what next steps will serve you best.
